While the majority of manufacturers opt for the ball principle (tilting principle), with a design that is easier to implement, BIOSWING technology uses a seat mechanism based on the pendulum principle (see image on right).

It has thus been possible to integrate “intelligent, physically effective movement control” into a chair.

This is because a pendulum works on the principle of harmonious and body-centred swinging movements.

Someone using ball-like or tilting movement solutions in their chair (see image on left) still needs to actively stabilise their body against gravity at all times. This is fully appropriate and useful for therapeutic purposes and for short sessions. Over prolonged periods, however, a movement solution based on the ball or tilting principle causes fatigue and also poses the risk of chronic pelvic misalignment.
